The Mighty Hunter

True to our blog title here is the latest kill. It was a very successful hunt for Jake this year. Opening morning started early with the first kill around 4:30 a.m. when we woke to a mouse running around the trailer. Jake was not all that concerned but I was completely freaked out. I didn't care how he got rid of it but until it was gone no one was going back to bed. Luckily he had his blow dart gun and was able to make the mouse his first kill of the season. After the first few days it looked the mouse might be the only trophy of the hunt, but Monday morning Jake came riding back into camp successful. He shot a nice little 3 point buck at a cool 82 yards. Rylee was thrilled. She ran around saying "daddy shoot buck with bow" and pretending like she was shooting a bow. She enjoyed stroking the velvet on the antlers. That kid is not afraid of dead things guess that's why we got her.

After a quick trip to bring the deer home we headed back to get after the elk. Wednesday morning Jake came across this spike elk and was able to stick it with an arrow. Then the work began. It took lots of hours of hiking and packing to get the elk out. Jake and Jimmy came back to camp exhausted but excited over the elk.

All tags filled we headed home from our adventure. Way to go daddy!!!!
